Scriptures for Seasons of Healing: Verses to Hold Onto When Your Body or Mind Feels Weary
Dear Friend,
If you find yourself in a season of weariness — whether in your body, your mind, or your heart — I want you to know you are not walking it alone. I’m still in a season of healing myself, and one thing I’ve learned along the way is this: there is no true healing apart from the Lord.
Healing is rarely quick. More often, it’s pruning and growth at the same time — releasing what was never meant for us, and opening our hearts to the renewal God brings. It can feel slow, but His Word is steady and alive, reminding us that hope and restoration are always near.
When my soul feels heavy, I turn to Scripture — not for perfect answers, but for steady reminders that the Lord is my Shepherd, my strength, and my rest. I want to share a few passages with you that have carried me, in prayer they will carry you too.
Psalm 23 – The Shepherd’s Care
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul…”
This psalm is a gentle hand to hold when the valley feels dark. God does not leave us to walk through our pain alone. He restores, He comforts, and He anoints us with His presence. Even when our bodies ache or our hearts feel fragile, His goodness and mercy follow us.
Isaiah 40:31 – Renewed Strength
“But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”
Healing isn’t rushed — it unfolds in God’s timing. Waiting on Him is not wasted time; it’s where strength begins to rise again. Like an eagle learning to soar, the Lord lifts us up when our own energy is gone.
2 Corinthians 12:9 – His Strength in Our Weakness
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
As a mom, there are days I feel completely poured out and unable to carry what’s in front of me. This verse has been an anchor — reminding me that God doesn’t ask me to be strong on my own. His strength is carrying me when I cannot carry myself. Where we are weak, he is strong.
Jeremiah 17:7-8 – Like a Tree by the Water
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water… it does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.”
Even in seasons of struggle, when life feels like drought, the one who stays rooted in the Lord can still flourish. Healing may feel quiet and hidden, but like roots digging deep by the stream, God is strengthening you beneath the surface.
Matthew 11:28-29 – Rest for the Weary
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me… and you will find rest for your souls.”
Sometimes healing looks like rest. Laying down what we’ve been carrying, and letting Jesus lift it for us. His rest is not just for our bodies but for our very souls. He is gentle, and He welcomes us into His peace.
A Final Word of Encouragement
If you are in a season of healing, I pray these Scriptures remind you that pruning and growth often happen together — and both are held in God’s hands. His Word is living water, nourishing you when you feel empty.
Tonight, maybe take a moment to open your Bible to Psalm 23. Read it slowly, like a prayer. Let every word remind you that you are seen, carried, and deeply loved by the One who restores your soul.
With grace and peace,
Jacquelynn
